In addition to being a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.), I appear to be about the only university professor teaching integrated engineering design focused on product safety and ethics. I use my book, “Engineering Ethics and Design for Product Safety” (DFPS) published by McGraw Hill for my course. I am Secretary of the Society of Product Safety Professionals (SPSP) and am a member of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO). I have been a consulting engineer for firms including Exponent and managed the product-safety of a specialty-equipment designer/manufacturer. My experience also includes significant work, including testifying, in high-profile litigation and before government regulators in the United States and Europe.
