Originally a chemist, I have particularly deep expertise in materials science and molecular engineering. I was inspired to become an international patent lawyer when I worked at a global chemical company and observed first hand the fascinating intellectual property disputes that arise around product inventions. In addition to qualifying as a Japanese Patent lawyer (Benrishi), I qualified as a Patent Agent under the USPTO and worked with a Washington DC patent firm. Over my career, I’ve had extensive experience guiding leading companies with both defensive and offensive patent strategy. I’ve also had experience as an expert witness in high stakes casualty litigation.
