Rich has solved billions of dollars worth of Fortune 100 anti-corruption and product regulatory problems by systematically leveraging legal acumen with engineering process discipline. After a decade as a partner at a top ranked trial law firm, Rich headed the litigation and compliance functions at a global Fortune 100.

Rich is the founder of LegalKaizen, a Bay Area consultancy developing tools to help lawyers, law firms and law departments make more informed decisions, with less waste, and better outcomes.

LegalKaizen applies technology to improve the business of law. We’re delivering real time actionable context and predictive analytics to drive better matter decisions. We’re not displacing lawyers, we’re making them more efficient, and more effective. That means we’re optimizing the creation and consumption of legal services. For the consumption side, we design solutions that address corporate client concerns such as budgets, accruals, and forecasts. On the creation side, we’re delivering solutions specific to law firm concerns such as the erosion of realization rates, and the challenges of managing working capital.

Rich also serves on the board of directors for the LEDES Operating Committee. The LEDES™ (Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard) Oversight Committee (“LOC”) is an international, voluntary, not-for-profit organization comprised of legal industry representatives and is charged with creating and maintaining open standard formats for the electronic exchange of billing and other information between corporations and law firms.
